These roles present an exciting opportunity to take on leadership roles within a service and organisation that is passionate about improving the services and upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and sustainability in all the projects we provide to our residents and the community.

Our vision is to build a stronger, safer, and kinder borough for everyone, and our track record is one of high performance and high satisfaction. This remarkable blend of professionalism and compassion means that we’re well-placed to support our community through past, present and future challenges. We know that these are challenging times, and it’s essential that we have the very best people leading our services. There continues to be much to do and our elected members are ambitious for the borough and our residents.

Hammersmith and Fulham has a distinctive and vibrant character, and is a place where innovation thrives. ‘Upstream London’ sets out our strategy to achieve inclusive economic growth and innovative approaches to placemaking.  The borough is now an economic global hotspot thanks to record investment and new jobs, largely focused around the White City Innovation District launched with our partners Imperial College London in 2017. We are home to many world-leading institutions and demand for high-quality residential and commercial development is strong including major developments in White City, Earls Court and our town centres. The council’s new civic campus quarter is also nearing completion and will be at the heart of a regenerated Hammersmith town centre.  Following a recent internal restructure we have created a Place department which brings together all of the related disciplines to take a holistic approach to growth and work at pace. Both of these roles sit within this division and will play key roles in shaping the future of the borough.

As the Assistant Director of Corporate Property Management and Health & Safety, you will play a crucial role in shaping the direction of the Council and driving strategic priorities and making Hammersmith & Fulham the best place to live, work, and visit. You will oversee various disciplines including property management, FM services, energy management, and decarbonisation works. Manage property valuation, income collection, building safety audits, cleaning services, workplace support, logistics, and corporate health and safety.

You will lead diverse teams and projects, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, delivering creative and innovative solutions across property management and facilities services and ensuring residents are at the heart of decision-making and enhancing community engagement.

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and innovate within a dynamic and supportive environment, making a tangible impact on the community.

As the Assistant Director of Building Control, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and compliance of building projects, directly affecting the community's well-being, providing strategic leadership and management for Building Control, including structural safety, fire safety, carbon reduction, and accessibility. You will ensure compliance with building regulations, London Building Acts, and the Building Safety Act. Managing 24/7 response for assessments, and offering expert advice on structural and fire safety, developing policies, projects, and initiatives related to building safety and regulations. You will represent the Council in meetings and promote effective working with various stakeholders, operate commercially to generate income and contribute to the Council's financial targets. You will engage with regional working groups and participate in the formulation of corporate policies, ensuring residents' interests are at the heart of decision-making and promoting equal opportunities. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead, innovate, and make a significant impact on the community while ensuring the highest standards of building safety and compliance.

I am looking for candidates with expertise and dedication, who are not only technically proficient but also possess strong communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Your ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, members and residents will be essential in ensuring the smooth delivery of our projects.

As you consider joining our team, we want to assure you that we are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive work environment. We value diversity and believe that a diverse team brings unique perspectives and ideas that drive innovation and success. We offer opportunities for professional growth and development, and we are dedicated to helping our employees reach their full potential.
